Wedding Registrars are important people who can officially marry a willing couple and represent the state in all the official documents. In the case of online weddings, the registrar does not actually meet the couple but merely asks them to identify themselves and proclaim that they agree to the marriage. Wedding registrars can be male or female and are often used in the place of a vicar or priest if neither of the couple is religious, or if they want a speedy wedding.
Registrars usually have to be booked well in advance and charge a fee for their services. Couples usually have to meet the registrar before the wedding to check that they know exactly what to do on the day.
